comparison features Usagi's dream about Mamoru in both the anime and the manga. In the anime, Usagi has a dream about Mamoru during the battle in the SuperS movie. Many fans of the anime have felt disappointed that this scene, which shows Mamoru as being more tender and romantic than he has been throughout the entire series, is only a dream. In contrast, this type of dream is unnecessary in the manga because Mamoru is often shown actually being romantic towards Usagi (Do the embraces in Comparisons 2 & 6 remind you of anything? ^_^). Thus, the dream in the manga is a bit different. It still has the same basic concept: a dream in which Mamoru is much sweeter/cuter than he really is, to the point where it starts getting a bit ridiculous. But there are two major differences in these dreams. One: Mamoru seems almost evil in the anime dream as he tries to distract Usagi from her misson to save everyone, while the dream in the manga shows a harmless and adorable, although very eager to please, young Mamoru. Two: Mamoru never has a chance to redeem himself after this dream in which he appears somewhat evil since he does not appear in the SuperS movie after this scene. In the manga, however, it is Mamoru himself who wakes Usagi from the dream, and as you will see in later comparisons, shows that he is equally wonderful, and more realistically so, in comparison to the Mamoru in Usagi's dream.
THINGS TO NOTE IN THE MANGA:
'Bunny' = 'Usa-chan' by dream Mamoru; 'Usa' by real Mamoru
'Darien' = 'Mamo-chan'
'Nephrenia' = 'Nehelenia/Neherenia'
MANGA SCENARIO:
The curse mentioned in this act involves a black rose stuck inside both Helios and Mamoru's chest due to their links to the Earth and Elysion, which is now Nehelenia's spell. Usagi has also gotten the curse due to her close link with Mamoru. The first stage of the curse caused Usagi and Mamoru to cough up black blood.
IMPORTANT DIFFERENCES:
In the anime dream, Mamoru is trying to distract Sailor Moon from her mission.
In the manga, Mamoru wakes Usagi up rather than Usagi waking herself up.
The background music during the manga section is the instrumental, or "hydeless" version of the song "MY HEART DRAWS A DREAM" by L'arc~en~Ciel. I think the reason I used this song is pretty obvious. =]
The images you see are not full manga pages. I split the pages into pieces so that the image can be bigger on the screen, allowing you to read the words more easily. I also excluded some panels that were not crucial to this particular comparison in order to shorten the video length.
