Rose debates whether to stay/be with the Doctor and travel the universe with him against her mother Jackie and on/off boyfriend Mickey's wishes, as conflicting views of others around her try to make up her mind. Eventually she does go even though her mother, Jackie, tries to stop her. Jackie realises there's nothing she can do to stop Rose travelling with the Doctor and hopes that she's 'happy in the end' for her daughter's sake.
Sarah Jane, a former companion of the Doctor encourages Rose to go with the Doctor because 'some things are worth getting your heart broken for'. She knows that a life, no matter how long or short with the Doctor, is worth all the pain in the end.
Rose knows that eventually it will ultimately end in heartbreak but she's ready to leap and spend what time she has with her Doctor, no matter what people say, the danger that's around the corner, the villians they'll meet because they'll have the time of their lives together. Meeting great friends, like Jack, saving the world and 'defying gravity'.
