Note: Just realised I spelled Apologize as 'Apologise' in title. Urgh.
Plot: Severus has always admired Hermione, but then Potter comes along and snatches her away from him.
Severus hates Harry more than ever, and remembers how his arrogant father stole Lilly from him.
Severus hates Hermione for lowering her standards for a Potter but still loves her through everything that has happened.
During occlumency Snape breaks into Harry's mind and see's memories of Harry and Hermione and then Lily.
Still angry at Potter, Severus goes off to the Mirror of Erised and see's Lilly.
Lily watches over Severus, still feeling some love for him.
Severus feels that he can no longer be with anyone any more because of all the agrovation and heartbreak.
He feels in the end that it is too late to apologize to Lilly and Hermione
