| Video Description The remake of my 2005 short film City 17, with improved visual effects and additional CG scenes. I produced the original short film for film school as my final project. By browsing comments on the original short film, I came across a lot of questions and some wrong assumptions on where it was shot and on how it was made. I shot it entirely on location in the city of Cologne/Germany using a Canon XL1 DV camera. No lighting and no green screen have been used, the city is real. The only CG elements in this short film are the creatures which I took from the computer game Half Life 2 by Valve Software. I animated and rendered them in 3D Studio Max. I used Discreet Combustion for compositing and color grading. Editing was done in Adobe Premiere and furthermore I have been using Photoshop for a couple of small things here and there. Based on the computer game Half Life 2, City 17 tells the story of a young guy in a city that isn't what it used be and he soon finds himself confronted with strange creatures... |
