| Pieced together from various footage which was shot throughout 1973 at various Jethro Tull Concerts, this project is an attempt to put together a complete Jethro Tull "Passion Play" concert. Passion Play is regarded as Tull's masterpiece by some and as "over the top" by others, usually those who have not given it enough listens say this as like most brilliant works of art, it may take a while to grow on you at first but once it does you soon realize that it is indeed a brilliant album. Never before have Jethro Tull played so harmonically and with Ian mainly on the Soprano sax! This is a master-work of epic proportions. from it's haunting musical interludes to it's profound lyrical content. Ian Anderson took a lot of undeserved heat for this album and it's concert from the critics but the album actually soared to #1 on the Billboard charts.(HUH?) Tull's Passion Play stands like a classical monument, as powerful and moving as anything Bach or Mozart constructed. This was Progressive Art Rock at it's finest. Ian blends his Medieval madness with classical arrangements to form the foundation of a true MASTERPIECE. The concert for this tour had the same mixed reviews. Those who were lucky enough to see this concert in 1973 have been left to remember it only with their imagination since no pro-footage or pro-sound seems to have ever been recorded from this concert. I took a complete audience audio recording of a Passion Play concert and attempted to sync up the various pieces of private 8mm footage taken from audience members. There is very limited footage of this sort and some of it is not the best quality however some of it is pretty good. This project is only on it's first stage. I am currently seeking any other passion play Super8, 8mm, or 16mm footage that may still exist in order to continue to upgrade this project. Anyone with additional footage or if you know someone who may have something, please contact me at TULLTAPES@YAHOO.COM. Those who wish to criticize this project, I understand that not everyone wants to watch old grainy tull footage But if you are a die hard Tull fan then you should enjoy this alot. There are sections of this concert that I have now synced up pretty well therefore these synced sections have never been seen by anyone until now. Unless you were at the show. Like I said this is a beta version 1.0 and the more good footage that gets discovered the better the final version will turn out. |
