| Witness Michael Air Jordan in his prime; game footage part 1 WATCH PARTS 1-7 WITHOUT INTERRUPTION (CLICK LINK, AFTER CLICKING THE LINK, YOU CLICK 'PLAY ALL VIDEOS'): video contains footage of Michael Jordan in his prime. The question has often been asked, how great was Jordan in his prime??! Well the answer will be revealed in a series of videos that I plan on releasing. If you search youtube, you can find musical mixes featuring Jordan, you can find highlight packages from single games featuring Jordan. but one type of video that you will not find is a series of compilations that feature footage from MJ's prime only. The misconception is that Jordan's prime as a player occured during the timespan of the 6 championships. The reality is that Jordan's prime was from the 1986-1987 season until the end of the 1993 title run. Even when Jordan was past his prime during the final 3 title runs, he still had enough left in the talent pool to remain the best player in the game of basketball. I plan on making quite a few of these compilation style videos featuring only footage from Michael Air Jordan's prime. Pay attention to the way Jordan works with the ball, plays defense, shoots the ball, explodes to the hoops, sets up teammates, never gives up on a play, and much more. Also notice the swarming defenses and the way the bigs are allowed to stand in the lane on defense for longer than 3 seconds. You will see Jordan face traps, zones, triple teams, double teams, physical defense, great athletes, you name it. Back in the day, there were many plays where you would start your defense in the zone and a slashing offensive player would turn it into a match up man to man with rotation for weakside help. Defenses were more intricate in Jordan's era. Now you will see plenty of iso and man to man in today's game, but you also see what I term as "lazy zones" where the defenders are not swarming to the ball and they effectively use zones to play lazy loose defense which allows for easier looks at the basket in weak areas. When you start a play in a zone with the option of going to match-up man on man(always using doubles and traps), it is a much much more effective style of playing defense rather than committing yourself to a pure zone. Also notice all of the full court press defenses as well as the way Jordan scores his points within the flow of an offense. Too many scorers from the current era look to score outside of the offense. Most of all, enjoy Air Jordan! = EDITED BY BRUCE BLITZ = |
